If you have a blog and don’t spend time each day commenting on other blogs than shame on you. You have to get to give. If you want people to comment on your blog, you need to comment on other people’s blogs.
Here are the top five reasons you should be commenting on other blogs.
Increase traffic to your blog. Many bloggers allow you to leave the link of your website when making a comment. Chances are if you make a thoughtful comment someone will click on your link to check out your blog. You not only gain an inbound link to your blog but increased traffic and new readers.
Build Community. By commenting on other blogs, I have made quality friendships with people in my industry. Many of whom I have since connected with on other social networking sites. The great thing is we now support each other, share ideas and each others blog content.
Opens the door to new opportunities. Making quality comments on other blogs is a great way to get noticed. This increased exposure could open the door to guest blogging opportunities. Guest blogging is a win-win situation. Guest blogging exposes you to a new audience further increasing your readership. Write a quality post for another blog and that blog’s readers will be dying to learn more about you and read more of your content.
Get Backlinks – Now we’ve come to the most important reason to comment on other blogs. Blog commenting gets you lot of niche related backlinks. Blogs need backlinks because they help increase your PageRank and widen your audience.
A word of caution – Don’t just comment for the sake of commenting to get a backlink! Your comment should be thoughtful and add value. So before leaving a comment on another blog make sure your comment has a purpose and will add to the discussion.
Commenting on other blogs is something you need to do regularly. It will take some time before you reap the benefits but it is well worth the wait. Blog commenting is like farming: You need to cultivate it.

All my life I have been a brick & Mortar business person. In my last off-line endeavor I was a real estate syndicator http://www.stirlingproperties.ca. I retired and then found it too boring, so I decided that I would keep up with the times and learn on-line marketing. I have begun with a blog platform hosted by Empower Network and they are great teachers of how to develop an internet business. However, until today all I have done is to read many blogs, learn what I could and leave. I had no idea it was like taking and not giving back, until today. I see the value of commenting on blogs that I find helpful or interesting and I promise that from today, I will always reward the blogger I read at least with a compliment on a job well done. You have just changed my paradigm of how I see this aspect of my world. Thank you.
