Do you want to make more money? Do you want to master your own destiny? Do you prefer potential over security? If you answered “YES” to these questions, you might have the right mind-set to be an entrepreneur rather than an employee.
I’ve spent a considerable amount of time studying other entrepreneurs and learning the qualities that it takes to be successful as a business owner. Three of the qualities that most successful entrepreneurs have is that they are: risk takers, they have a whatever it takes mind-set and they have vision.
Most people have been raised to seek security and to avoid risks. However, as the saying goes “Risk is the price you pay for opportunity.” As an entrepreneur you will have the freedom to control your income, make your own schedule and gain autonomy but to gain these benefits you must be willing to take risks. Nothing in life is guaranteed! As an entrepreneur you won’t have a steady paycheck and you may fail at some point.
However, if you have the mind-set of an entrepreneur these issues won’t discourage you because entrepreneurs are motivated by the potential to be successful. They see the value in what “could be” more than what is. Successful entrepreneurs are motivated by the rewards that they could earn if they succeed rather than by a steady paycheck.
Whatever It Takes Attitude
As an entrepreneur you must be willing to do anything your business needs done. This includes selling, working long hours and learning new skills. To take it one step further, you must be willing to do things that make you uncomfortable. For example, many people hate sales but if you have a business you must have clients. So initially, most of your time will be spent promoting your business.
Successful entrepreneurs can visualize the end result before it is achieved. Their vision for the future allows them to be creative. Their creativity differs from the artist in that entrepreneurs desire to create something where it doesn’t exist yet. Often the most successful businesses are built because the owner had a vision to deliver a product or service to the marketplace to fill a void or a need.
If you are a risk taker, have a whatever it takes attitude and have vision maybe it’s time you considered becoming an entrepreneur. The benefits of being an entrepreneur are endless from income control, time freedom and the most rewarding of all is the ability to determine what kind of work you want to do and how you want to go about doing it.
